A new website! Why?
I can't lie, it's been a tough six months. Very few can navigate the minefield that is arts production unscathed and I have to admit I took a few hits as well. After five and a half years as a producer for a contemporary circus company, I have had to take time for recovery and re-alignment and it's been possible with the support from my loved-one, my family, colleagues, friends and even the healthcare system in Finland.
My medicine on this path of recovery has included finally sleeping enough, lots of walks, lots of dancing (yes!) and trying to be brutally honest with people and myself. I've found empathy in several conversations, wisdom in numerous podcasts and found inspiration in my partner, theatre, books, films, vegan cuisine and artisan coffee. I've started a journal (not daily yet), got back to volunteering and DJing at the Tango Frostbite 2024 festival and even wrote ideas for a new circus film script.
So yes I'm starting a new website slash portfolio and will also post about what inspires me in hopes we can inspire each other. Building a comprehensive portfolio is also an essential means to reflect on the journey I've undertaken since my days as an underage DJ in the bars of my hometown back in the 1990s.
And on top of that, it's of course a great opportunity for myself to learn more about website design. I am building this site on Wix.com and right now I'm working on cross-referencing databases (all portfolio items connect to the related videos and images etc.) and for the page titles I'm back to improving my basics of After Effects text animation.
